God of My Fathers on Daniel 2:1-49

Their necks were on the line.  Heads were going to roll if King Nebuchadnezzar didn’t get a satisfactory answer.  But the request seemed absolutely beyond all reason.  How is it possible to know what another man has dreamed if the dreamer doesn’t tell the dream.  The “wise men” were right to be alarmed.  But Daniel and his three companions prayed and received the answer that would stop the edict to wipe out all of the wise men of Babylon.  Daniel, though situated in the prestigious service of the conquering king of Babylon, knew that it was the “God of my fathers,” not the gods or magical arts of Babylon who deserved the thanks and the praise.  Even Nebuchadnezzar would understand and declare “Surely your God is a God of gods and a Lord of kings and a revealer of mysteries.”
