Singing the Lord’s Song in a Foreign Land on Daniel 1:1-21

Psalm 137 is a lament of the captive Jews who have been carried away to exile in Babylon.  When asked to sing a song of home the exiled ask “How can we sing the Lord’s song in a foreign land?”  The answer comes to us in the life of Daniel.  Here was a man of unimpeachable character who honoured the one true God in circumstances he didn’t choose for himself.  He did not wither up with regret but flourished and was a strength to those about him as well.  Daniel has much to teach us today as Christian’s in North America find themselves in a strangely changed land where the Bible is disdained and belittled.  Come again Daniel and teach us how to live and declare the greatness of God in this land that has forgotten Who sits on the throne of heaven.
