Genesis 50:15–21 | “You Meant Evil… But God Meant It for Good”

With their father in the grave, Joseph’s brothers panic: what if he’s been biding his time all these years, waiting to pay them back? This message traces that haunting “what if” question through Scripture from Jacob dreading Esau, to Saul fearing David, to Herod raging at a newborn King and shows how fear drives guilty hearts to scheme rather than trust. But Joseph weeps, refuses to take God’s place, and speaks the verse that unlocks the whole book: what his brothers meant for evil, God meant for good, to preserve many people alive. The takeaway for every anxious heart: God’s purposes prevail over spite, over wickedness, over every worst-case scenario we rehearse at 3am so lay down the plan, and rest.
