Genesis 50:1–14 | Faithful in Life and in Death
When Jacob dies in Egypt, Joseph keeps the promise he made to his father and carries him home to be buried in the cave at Machpelah, the land God had sworn to Abraham and Isaac. This message walks through the repeated emphasis Moses gives to that burial place and asks why it matters: because Israel died believing God would keep His word, and because Joseph, the man in Genesis most like Christ, kept his word too. Drawing on Romans 15 and 1 Corinthians 10, we’re reminded these old accounts were written for our instruction and encouragement, pointing us to the Savior who declares “I go to prepare a place for you” where the promise is not ultimately about the where, but the with whom.
Whatever you’re facing this week, the takeaway is simple: the God who has never broken a promise will not start with you. Trust Him fully.
